Jreid X Chiefs
Jreid X Chiefs
Following the success of my "In Spags We Trust" design, which went viral and sold over 2,000 shirts, I was commissioned to create four new designs for Justin Reid and the Kansas City Chiefs. These designs aimed to capture the energy, culture, and identity of both the team and its fans while staying true to Justin Reid’s personal brand.
Each piece was crafted with bold aesthetics and storytelling elements, reinforcing the connection between the players and their supporters. This collaboration further solidified my role in creating impactful, player-driven merchandise that resonates on and off the field.

For this project, I developed four main designs for the new collection, each with its own distinct creative approach. This case study will break down the behind-the-scenes process of bringing these designs to life, from initial concepts to final execution. It will cover the creative direction, revisions, and decision-making involved in each piece, providing insight into how the collection was crafted to align with the vision of Justin Reid and the Kansas City Chiefs.

Grim Reaper Design
For this design, Justin wanted to highlight Coach Andy Reid’s iconic locker room quote: “When it gets grim, be the Grim Reaper.” My task was to bring this vision to life by portraying Coach Reid as the Grim Reaper himself, standing in an eerie setting, overlooking Arrowhead Stadium below.
The final approved design captured the intensity of the moment with a bold composition, dramatic lighting, and carefully crafted details that reinforced the legendary nature of the quote. This attention to storytelling and atmosphere played a key role in the selection of this design as the final version.

Dynasty Design
Justin wanted to create a design that honored the key figures behind Kansas City’s recent success—three essential coaches and the team’s general manager. He envisioned a piece titled “Dynasty” to capture the lasting impact they’ve had on the franchise. The design features their faces towering over Arrowhead Stadium, symbolizing their leadership and influence in building a championship culture.
To amplify the celebratory tone, Justin requested fireworks in the background, reinforcing the excitement and grandeur of their achievements. The final composition merges bold imagery with dynamic lighting, creating a striking tribute to the architects of the Chiefs’ dynasty.

Die a Hero Design
Die a Hero Design
This design was inspired by another powerful team locker room quote: “Either die a hero, or play long enough to be the villain.” Justin wanted this concept to have both a front and back design, creating a dynamic, storytelling-driven piece. The front features a hand-stitched photo manipulation of Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes triumphantly raising the Super Bowl trophy.
To further emphasize Mahomes’ greatness, Justin insisted on including a fictional goat character standing behind him, wearing a Chiefs jersey as a symbolic nod to his GOAT status. The combination of bold imagery and intricate details makes this design a standout tribute to Kansas City’s dominance.

Die a Hero - Back Design
The back side of this design showcases the Chiefs' legendary defense, including Justin himself. A key focus for Justin was to portray the players as villains, embracing the narrative that has surrounded their dominance. Building on the viral success of the “In Spags We Trust” design—where defensive mastermind Steve Spagnuolo was depicted with glowing laser eyes—
Justin insisted that every player in this design also feature laser eyes to maintain the theme. This detail, combined with a dark, imposing aesthetic, reinforces the fearsome reputation of Kansas City’s defense and solidifies their place as the league’s ultimate antagonists.
